Angela Bardeen, MSLS, Behavioral and Social Sciences Librarian, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Angela is the Behavioral and Social Sciences Librarian at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she is the liaison to the Psychology Department and the School of Social Work. She received a B.A. in Psychology from Bard College and her MSLS from UNC at Chapel Hill.

Lindsey Chan, MSLS, Business Projects Library Science Lead, Cigna
Lindsey received her MSLS from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008 and previously worked as a Graduate Assistant at UNC’s Health Sciences Library. She has worked in knowledge management at a pharmaceutical consulting firm and now works as a library science lead for business projects at Cigna. Lindsey’s interests include health literacy and consumer health information with a focus on cancer.

Jamie Conklin, MLIS, Nursing Liaison Librarian, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Jamie received her MLIS from Florida State University and has worked for public, academic, and medical libraries throughout her career. In her current position at UNC, she provides expert searching services, participates in interprofessional initiatives, and provides instruction and research assistance to faculty and students within the School of Nursing.

Ann Hallyburton, MSLS, MPH, AHIP, CHIS, Research and Instruction Librarian / Liaison to the Health and Human Sciences, Western Carolina University
Ann is beyond thrilled to serve a large group of current and future athletic trainers, dietitians, emergency medical services and environmental health professionals, nurses, recreational therapists physical therapists, social workers, and speech-language pathologists. Her research interests include ways in which individuals evaluate and use health information and the study of evidence and literature review methodologies.

Rachel Hinrichs, MS, MSLS, Health Sciences Librarian, Schools of Public Health and Rehabilitation Science, Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis
Rachel is a Health Sciences Librarian at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis, where she is a liaison to the schools of Public Health and Rehabilitation Science. Previously she was a research assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Health Sciences Library. She also holds a MS in nutrition science from Meredith College.

Linda Elise Johnsen, MSLS, NC Health Info and Communications Manager, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Linda obtained her Master of Science in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Arts in East Asian Religions from Columbia University. She serves as the content, editorial and technical manager of NC Health Info and NC Health Literacy, as well as the communications manager for the Health Sciences Library.

Lisa Kilburn, MLS, AHIP, Director, Information Access Center, Library Services, Southern Regional AHEC
Lisa has worked as a reference librarian in medical and public libraries since 2000. In her current position she researches medical questions for customers, trains health professionals to find information, and is a local subject specialist in health literacy. She attends hospital rounds with Family Medicine residents weekly and researches the questions that come up for discussion. She is a member of the SR-AHEC Research Review Board and assists with local quality improvement activities. Lisa received her MLIS from the University of Texas at Austin.

Allison Matthews, MLS, Reference & Education Librarian, SEAHEC Medical Library, New Hanover Regional Medical Center
Allison received her MLS from North Carolina Central University and has worked at the SEAHEC Medical Library since 2005.

Rebecca Carlson, MSLS, Clinical Librarian, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Rebecca received her MSLS from UNC-Chapel Hill. She was the Nursing and Health Sciences Library Director at Southwest Baptist University before joining the Health Sciences Library at UNC-Chapel Hill. As a Clinical Librarian, Rebecca provides instruction, research assistance, systematic searches, and clinical support for students and faculty in the School of Medicine and residents, fellows, faculty, and clinicians in the UNC Healthcare System. She is also a liaison to the UNC-Chapel Hill Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice.

Mark McKone, MLS, Research Librarian, Carpenter Library, Wake Forest School of Medicine
Mark is the liaison to the Department of Pediatrics at Wake Forest Health Sciences. Mark provides instruction, research assistance, and literature searches for students, residents and faculty.

Elizabeth Moreton, MLS, Clinical Librarian, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Beth is the library liaison to a variety of departments at UNC Hospitals. Beth previously served as the librarian for the School of Nursing at UNC before transitioning into Clinical Librarianship. In her clinical role, Beth provides instruction, research assistance, systematic searches, and clinical tools for nurses, residents, faculty, and clinicians at UNC Hospitals. Beth is passionate about helping health professionals help their patients. Beth received her MLS from Indiana University Bloomington and worked in a hospital library and an academic library in the Midwest before moving to North Carolina.

Beverly Murphy, MLS, AHIP, FMLA, Assistant Director, Communications and Web Content Management and Hospital Nursing Liaison, Duke University Medical Center Library & Archives
A reference librarian at heart, Beverly has been at Duke since 1983. One of her primary roles is to maintain the Library’s Website and digital presence but she also serves as the Hospital Nursing Liaison for the Duke Health System. Beverly is a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals, serving in many professional capacities on the local, regional, and national level.

Melissa Nasea, MSLS, AHIP, William E. Laupus Health Sciences Library, East Carolina University
Melissa has worked at the Laupus Health Sciences Library since 1982. She has worked in reference, cataloging, serials, and collection development. She currently serves as the History Collections Librarian. Melissa received her BA in Art History and History and her MSLS from Wayne State University.

Terri Ottosen, MLIS, AHIP, Community Engagement and Health Literacy Librarian, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
In her position, Terri works to advance the library’s community engagement activities and manages and develops consumer health and patient education resources and services for health professionals and students. She also provides outreach to the citizens of North Carolina through this site, NC Health Info, working directly with public libraries and community agencies. She has served on many professional committees and is a distinguished member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

Mendy Ozan, MLIS, Consumer Health Librarian, Levine Cancer Institute
Mendy is the Consumer Health Librarian for Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, NC. She writes, edits, and reviews patient education and consumer health materials with a focus on plain language and health literacy. Before coming to Levine Cancer Institute in 2016, she was the Health & Human Services Librarian at UNC-Charlotte and a Medical Librarian at the Cone Health/Greensboro AHEC Medical Library.

Lee Richardson, MLIS, Information Discovery and Metadata Librarian, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Lee has over 18 years of experience in cataloging and metadata in academic libraries. Currently, she is responsible for information discovery in the UNC Health Sciences Library. Throughout her career, Lee has been professionally active serving with professional organizations at the state, regional and national levels. Lee received her MLIS from the University of South Carolina.

Emily Vardell, PhD, Assistant Professor, School of Library and Information Management, Emporia State University
Emily Vardell is an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Management at Emporia State University. She teaches graduate courses on the foundations of library and information science, research methods, reference, consumer health, and health sciences librarianship. Her research interests are in the area of health information behavior with a focus on health insurance literacy and how people make health insurance decisions. Emily earned her PhD from the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017 and her Master of Library Science degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2007.

Jennifer Walker, MSIS, Librarian to the Adams School of Dentistry, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Jennifer received her MS in Information Science from the University of North Texas in 2010 with a specialization in Health Informatics. Since then, she has served as a clinical reference librarian at two academic health sciences libraries in North Carolina. She currently serves as the librarian to the Adams School of Dentistry at UNC providing expert searching services in support of research and clinical decision-making. She also serves as a cancer information librarian providing services to faculty, students and researchers from the five health affairs schools at UNC-Chapel Hill as well as to clinicians and patients at UNC Hospitals.

Sarah Towner Wright, MLS, Clinical Librarian and Graduate Medical Education Specialist, Health Sciences Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Sarah received her MLS from the University of Pittsburgh, with a specialization in Health Librarianship. She has held several medical librarian positions including the embedded Clinical Librarian in the Department of Pediatrics at UNC, and as the Manager of a hospital library in the DC Metro area for 7 years, where she served on the Consumer Health Committee. Currently, Sarah serves as a clinical librarian in the Health Sciences Library, specializing in services for residents at the UNC Hospitals. In this position, Sarah provides instruction, research assistance, systematic review support, and curriculum development for medical students, residents, faculty, and clinicians at UNC.
